We all travel by some mode of transportation, that being said, many people in the United States rely on public transportation. It is a necessary part of our daily travel. Those of us who do not rely on public transportation have the option of traveling by motorcycle, bicycle, taxi, Uber, Lyft, and personal vehicles. Public transportation is convenient and has been a great deal of help to many people in cities across the United states. They connect one part of each city to other parts that would be difficult to reach otherwise. In between their travels picking up and dispensing passengers, most buses are cleaned perhaps twice per day, or between the shift changes of the drivers, but since Covid19, most buses are cleaned more often. There are people like Judge Napolitano who think that many forms of public transportation are unsanitary. Many public transportation are now frequently sanitized, cleaned and sprayed to keep Covid19 at bay.
People often form opinions about what they have not experienced but perhaps in time they will come to see public transportation differently. There are efforts made by transportation authorities to maintain a certain level of cleanliness in all public vehicles. In some vehicles it is not that they are unsanitary but that they are old, and being old they develop odors that are equated with not being clean even if they have been cleaned. Some people may have had an experience that shaped what they think about the condition of public transportation. Sometimes there are circumstances that may shake the confidence of someone using public transportation especially if the situation they encountered shook their confidence. That event may have long standing effects that until there is a new and more positive experience, or a new way of keeping public transportation clean visibly, their opinion will not alter. Sometimes when someone makes a decision about a situation, it can have far reaching implications and if they are not able to find out they only experienced that situation because that bus may have broken down and the replacement sent was long overdue to be removed from service, the thought that public transportation is unsanitary will remain.
Perhaps if Judge Napolitano experiences a brand new bus that is clean and sanitized, he will see that this observation was based on what may have been unforeseen circumstances, something that happened out of a need to keep things moving so that the people needing the service got to their destination. Every day the consideration of what constitutes public safety in the form of public transportation cleanliness, becomes more important as we face many health challenges because of Covid19. We take the time to do a little more to maintain our welfare and the welfare of others because it is one and the same. As we move forward, the sanitation of public transportation is now the norm in our daily survival, and that is appreciated by every passenger.
