Life may seem very hectic nowadays. Everything is according to schedule, wake up in the morning, head off to work, come home and cook dinner, and end the day in bed in preparation of repeating the routine the next day. With such a busy way of life, people often get stuck in a rut, forgetting to pause for a moment and appreciate everything they have. Although unintentional, individuals should certainly take more time out of their day to feel grateful. With so many obstacles and hardships life will throw at you, it is important to recognize all of your progress and reflect on how far you have come.
George Rutler strongly encourages people to regularly channel the feeling of gratitude. As an honorable member of the Catholic church, he regularly practices the ritual of praising thanks to the Lord. He was raised in the Eipscopal Tradition and became an Episcopal priest for nine years. After getting received into the Catholic Church in 1979, Ruler was sent to the North American College in Rome for seminary studies. He holds numerous degrees from the Gregorian and Agelicum Universities in Rome. His years at various universities around Europe and the United States certainly helped steer him on a tremendous path towards becoming a renowned figure in the Catholic Church.
After completing his studies, Rutler became heavily involved in the church community in New York. He served as the Associate Pastor of St. Joseph’s in Bronxville, as well as Our Lady of Victory and St. Agnes. For a decade, he also was the National Chaplain of Legatus, which was an organization of Catholic business leaders who would bring along their families and participate in spiritual formation. In addition to all of his roles, George Rutler hosted retreats and gave lectures in many countries. The most recent title he was given was when Cardinal Dolan appointed him Pastor of the Church of St. Michael the Archangel in 2013. Rutler has always felt enormous amounts of gratuity and appreciation for where his life journey has led him. By working hard and focusing on his goals, he was able to achieve what he wanted and is always appreciative of it.
Much like George Rutler’s story, people all over the world have a lot to be grateful for. Despite all of the hardships that life puts us through, we must reflect on the things in life that truly make us happy. To start, the most important thing we should all be thankful for is family. The bond people have with their families is an unbreakable one. These are people that will stand by your side through thick and thin and will always be there to support you. Another reason to feel grateful and blessed, especially during the pandemic, is for your health. Many people go through severe health issues throughout their lifetime, and for individuals who are lucky enough to wake up each morning feeling completely healthy should certainly recognize and feel grateful for it. Lastly, people should overall just feel grateful about life. Even on the worst of days, individuals still have air in their lungs and better days ahead to look forward to. George Rutler admits that life is not always smooth sailing, it is still something to appreciate.
